Phil Rides Across America - and Stops in Pagosa!

Phil Keoghan, host of CBS's The Amazing Race, is cycling across America to raise awareness and funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – and also promote health, wellness and a greener America!

This cross-country cycling journey will begin in Los Angeles on March 28th and end in New York 40 days later; it's a ride that is averaging 100 miles per day for a total of over 3,500 miles - and he's riding through Pagosa Springs!

Phil will be traveling with a camera crew to document the entire ride and CBS will be coordinating extensive daily coverage at every stop. This event will provide an excellent opportunity to showcase Pagosa Springs to a national audience and we have a lot planned to celebrate.

Schedule of Events

Monday, April 6th - Welcome Phil to Town
Help us welcome Phil to Pagosa Springs! We encourage the community to cheer Phil and the other riders on, as they travel along Highway 160, arriving from the west and continuing to downtown. Stay tuned to KWUF that afternoon to find out exactly what time he’ll arrive – most likely after 4pm. Once arriving in Pagosa, Phil will spend an evening resting and preparing for the toughest day of the trip – the ride over Wolf Creek Pass!
Tuesday, April 7th - Send Off Party and Fundraiser
We're having a huge send-off party and fundraiser in Town Park beginning at 7:30 am. Enjoy a free pancake breakfast, thanks to the Kiwanas Club. Help us celebrate Phil’s Amazing Race across America - with live music, hot air balloons and a chance to meet Phil. Donations are encouraged; all proceeds will go towards the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Please bring lawn chairs. The event will take place rain, snow or shine – we will announce a chance of venue if necessary.
At 9:30 a.m., Phil will begin climbing Wolf Creek Pass, accompanied by the Wolf Creek Wheels Club. Help us give Phil and the rest of the group a rousing send off when they start out on Hermosa Street from Town Park. We’ll have aid stations and cheering sections east of town to cheer Phil and the other riders on as they summit Wolf Creek. We’re even going to have a surprise waiting for Phil at the top of the pass!

Join us throughout the celebration and help us raise money for a great cause, while showing the rest of the United States why they should visit Pagosa Springs.
