Nordic Skiing in Pagosa Country
Cross Country skiing just doesn't get any better! Pagosa Springs has over 50 km of groomed cross country ski trails - for skate and freestyle skating. And, they're all free to use, thanks to the Pagosa Nordic Club. All groomed trails also have a track for snowshoeing. Discover the winter solitude that can only truly be experienced on a trail.

Pagosa Springs Golf Course Uptown - Pagosa Lakes
When snow conditions allow, a nordic track is groomed for both classic and skate skiing. The nordic track is conveniently located off Hwy 160 a few miles west of Pagosa Springs. View Map
Coyote Hill Nordic Loops
The Coyote Hill Nordic Loops are easily accessible from Pagosa Springs. The parking and trailhead are 6.25 miles up Piedra Road from Hwy 160, where the asphalt ends - across the road from the Turkey Springs trailhead. The loops incorporate about 5 miles of trails. This can be a challenging course with uphills and downhills. If you view yourself as a beginner x-country skier, you might consider taking the first loop to the left a short distance from the parking area, and not going up and over the hill. Moonrise / Sunset Ski B-Q Socials
Join the Pagosa Nordic Club for their fun Moon Rise / Sunset Ski-B-Q Socials, typically held on the Friday evenings closest to the month's full moon. They gather at a predetermined groomed trailheads to enjoy an easy ski under the colorful skies, free BBQ and socialize next to a warm camp fire with some hot cocoa. A great activity for families, all ages and abilities. Locations are close to Town and will be announced as snow conditions become available. Learn to Ski & Snowshoe Clinics
The Pagosa Nordic Club will host a FREE Learn to Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Clinic at the Alpine Haus Ski Center located at the Golf Course clubhouse. Date to be determined, once the snow begins to fall. Pparticipants will be able to choose from beginner to intermediate levels of Skate Skiing, Classic Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing instruction. Check with local ski shops as they offer discounted rental gear for the event. All ages are encouraged to attend.
