Take a historic train ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, located in Chama, NM, only 45 miles away or enjoy a trip on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, located in Durango, CO, only 60 miles West of Pagosa. Both railroads provide museums with great train history and a variety of adventures for the entire family - with many kid-specific train rides.
Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park provide a great place for kids to see our area wildlife up close. A half mile trail wanders around the alrge, natural landscape with cages that house bears, mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, wolves and elk. Located a few miles east of Pagosa Springs on Hwy 84. Fishing on the ponds behind River Center is a great way for kids to enjoy the outdoors and catch a fish too! Besides the Pagosa Candy Company and the Malt Shoppe are located right there, in the River Center, to treat the family when finished.
