We call these "other snow sports" in Pagosa Springs

Sledding and Tubing in Pagosa Springs is a favorite activity for many during the winter months.  There are many free sledding hills - such as Reservoir Hill behind Healing Waters, near the parking area at Lobo Overlook, or pretty much any other hill you come across. Just make sure you aren't on private property or you have permission from the property owner.  We also have a tubing park with snow making capabilities, located next to High Country Lodge & Cabins.

Turkey Springs Trail System

The Turkey Springs mountain bike trail system consists of 14 interconnected single-track non-motorized routes, providing more than 30 miles of trail to ride. Numerous loops originating from several different trailheads in the Turkey Springs, Brockover Mesa, and Martinez Creek areas offer riders a variety of options from which to choose. Graveled forest roads and ATV trails provide additional connectivity and loop options, creating a system in which one may ride for one hour or 12 hours without duplicating routes.

Who Can Use These Trails? This mountain bike trail system is open to all non-motorized uses, and is popular with hikers, horseback riders, and runners. Pets are permitted on all trails and will be frequently encountered. Consequently, appropriate caution and consideration of other users and use types should be exercised while riding these trails. Several motorized trails and roads bisect the area, which are also open to non-motorized users.

In the winter, there are options for both snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Turkey Springs Trail system provides miles and miles of ungroomed skiing in rolling meadows and Ponderosa pine forest. Check out Pagosa Nordic for updates. For snowmobiling, drive north on Piedra Road, 600 until you come to the San Juan Forest. The parking lot is on the left hand side of the road. The trail goes west out of the parking lot. Check out the Colorado Snowmobile Association for updates.

The hill at the entrance to the Turkey Springs Trail System is a great place for sledding, close to town. Large parking area is available at the entrance and plenty of room to sled and recreate in the snow.
